Excellent division of joints and bending areas. The male figure does very nicely, but the female figure is rather delicate. The arm came out of the socket and I had a hard time putting it back in.

The models were gifts for our grandchildren who draw. They were very happy to receive them.

Good. But why did the order have to go through Queens NY?

    Overall, happy

The male figure poses well, and keeps the pose fairly well (occasionally, I'll have to readjust the arms, depending on the pose). The base generally works well. The lid of the base doesn't seem to sit fully - press it in fully, and it pops back out a little. Not a big deal, however, as it otherwise stays in place regardless of this. The base also fits most things that have come with it. A little annoying is that it doesn't fit the hook-and-arms holder/support when not in use (i.e. when just using the peg-into-the-back attachment instead). Also, unfortunately, my male figure pack was missing one of the arms for the hook-and-arms holder/support (photographed to show - the one that came with the female figure with both support-arms, and the one that came with the male figure missing a support-arm). The female figure also poses well, but is much more finicky/fragile - probably down the the smaller sizing, but it definitely seems to lack some of the robustness of the male figure. I've had to be careful adjusting e.g. the leg positioning, and had to e.g. poke the edge of the thigh piece so that it seated properly under a join of the hip to move freely the way I wanted it to (otherwise, the thigh piece was hitting the join, stopping the movement and starting to bend up the edge of the thigh). I've also already had a shoulder joint, tummy-to-hip joint, hip-to-thigh, and wrist joint pop out (the most frequent being the tummy-to-hip joint). All have been ball-and-socket joins, so I could get them to pop back in relatively easily, so it wasn't too bad (shoulder one was a bit tricky, but managed in the end). Positioning it with care, and it works just as well as the male figure in the end (I do find it odd that the knee join is different on the female figure, however) For both figures, there are some poses that are a bit tricky/not possible: - the legs don't bend enough for a full-seiza (bended knee, resting on shins) seated position, but that may be wishful thinking to get from a figure. And even without achieving a full seiza, you can get roughly the idea, so it is close enough. - arms-straight-up-in-the-air might be possible, but I'm not sure. I haven't pushed too much to get it (and actually, from the shoulder joint pop-out incident, I've discovered that to achieve this, it may be best to have the shoulder be popped out, take out the in-between piece which does the curve of the top of the shoulder normally, and put the ball-and-socket back together without that before posing. Not the most elegant solution, but if required that could probably be done. Most of what I've said above is being rather picky, however. Overall, they function rather brilliantly - I'm quite excited to play around with them with my drawings going forward (although, I am a little annoyed about the missing support-arm piece, since it limits attaching one of my figures solely by the peg-in-the-back method). Also would have loved if there were more not-just-modern accessories like the katana, e.g. a bow accessory (maybe even articulated, to get the full-draw v.s. not positions, in a perfect world!), but the ones that it comes with are pretty excellent. So yes, very happy with my purchase overall. ^_^

Exactly what I was hoping for

I just received my drawing figures on New Years Eve and they are exactly what I was hoping for! I ordered two each of the male and female figures in gray so that I could make compositions for illustrating a fantasy novel I am working writing. They are small, but that is what I wanted as they don’t take up a lot of space. Best of all, they are the perfect size for my Breyer model horses, which should help me draw better proportioned horse and rider scenes and one of the main reasons I wanted to get these. The figures come with a variety of accessories and changeable hands. Be careful when removing the hands from their original packing. I gently took them off using a sideways motion and had no issues. Just be patient They also come with a stand that is adjustable and movable, so the figures can be held in a variety of positions. They can also stand alone, depending upon the position. While I prefer to draw by hand, they can be scanned using your smartphone to create your character in photoshop or illustrator. If you are looking to order these figures, definitely order them from Aeternis. Their customer service is excellent! My original shipment was lost, but Don, the founder replied to all of my inquiries within hours and arranged for a reshipment which arrived in perfect condition and within three weeks. So you can order these with confidence from Aeternis
